Noise-induced shifts in the ecological model with delay
A Hassell-type mathematical model of population dynamics with delay and stochastic disturbances is considered. In this bistable model, one of the attractors corresponds to the extinction, and the other one describes non-trivial stable modes of dynamics. These modes can be both regular and chaotic. Structural stability zones are separated by local and global bifurcations. We study how noise shifts these bifurcation points and contracts the persistence zone. Statistical Approximation of Fourier Transform-IR Spectroscopy Data for Zinc White Pigment from Twentieth-Century Russian Paintings
We present a statistical model for approximation of experimental Fourier transform-IR spectroscopy (FTIR) data for paint samples from paintings of different ages. The model utilizes random variations in some parameters (initial ageing rate, degree of change in ageing rate and time at which the change occurs). We determine the parameters characterizing variation in the paint composition and the storage conditions for the paintings. The numerical calculation is qualitatively consistent with the experimental data. In the proposed model, changes in the initial composition of the paint and the storage conditions make about the same contribution to the experimentally observed scatter in the data points

Heralded processes on continuous-variable spaces as quantum maps
Conditional evolution is crucial for generating non-Gaussian resources for
quantum information tasks in the continuous variable scenario. However, tools
are lacking for a convenient representation of heralded process in terms of
quantum maps for continuous variable states, in the same way as Wigner
functions are able to give a compact description of the quantum state. Here we
propose and study such a representation, based on the introduction of a
suitable transfer function to describe the action of a quantum operation on the
Wigner function. We also reconstruct the maps of two relevant examples of
conditional process, that is, noiseless amplification and photon addition, by
combining experimental data and a detailed physical model. This analysis allows
to fully characterize the effect of experimental imperfections in their

The problem of analytical calculation of barrier crossing characteristics for Levy flights
By using the backward fractional Fokker-Planck equation we investigate the
barrier crossing event in the presence of Levy noise. After shortly review
recent results obtained with different approaches on the time characteristics
of the barrier crossing, we derive a general differential equation useful to
calculate the nonlinear relaxation time. We obtain analytically the nonlinear
relaxation time for free Levy flights and a closed expression in quadrature of

ATLAS RPC Quality Assurance results at INFN Lecce
The main results of the quality assurance tests performed on the Resistive
Plate Chamber used by the ATLAS experiment at LHC as muon trigger chambers are
reported and discussed.
Since July 2004, about 270 RPC units has been certified at INFN Lecce site
and delivered to CERN, for being integrated in the final muon station of the
ATLAS barrel region.
We show the key RPC characteristics which qualify the performance of this
detector technology as muon trigger chamber in the harsh LHC enviroments.
These are dark current, chamber efficiency, noise rate, gas volume

Effects of colored noise in short overdamped Josephson junction
We investigate the transient dynamics of a short overdamped Josephson junction with a periodic driving signal in the presence of colored noise. We analyze noise induced phenomena, specifically resonant activation and noise enhanced stability. We find that the positions both of the minimum of RA and maximum of NES depend on the value of the noise correlation time \u3c4_c. Moreover, in the range where RA is observed, we find a non-monotonic behavior of the mean switching time as a function of \u3c4_c
SARS-CoV-2 tracheitis in laryngectomised patients: A consecutive case-series study
Key points
SARS-CoV-2 is a possible cause of acute severe tracheitis in laryngectomees.
In our series, the clinical picture was characterized by a haemorrhagic tracheitis with a
slow resolution pattern.
We observed a histological pattern of erosive inflammation of the respiratory
epithelium.
Planned tracheo-bronchoscopy and tracheal toilettes are recommended to prevent
critical obstruction of the airway, which can be fatal in patients with associated
impairment of lung function caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection.
The present cases highlight the need for close interdisciplinary working and
communication in the management of airway complications of COVID-19 infection
